Coach education for clubs, schools and universities
Most club and school hockey is coached by volunteers, teachers and parents who were handed a whistle and a bag of balls. We help them run sessions that players enjoy and improve from.
It started in 2014, when a local club asked us to run a workshop for the volunteers, helpers and parents who ran their junior and senior training. The same question keeps coming from clubs, schools and universities across the North East and Yorkshire, and ONE Hockey has been an England Hockey Official Coaching Agency since that first year.
What we offer
- Coach workshops: a practical evening or half-day on your own pitch for your volunteer coaches, covering session structure, drills that work with 20 mixed-ability juniors, and how to coach a game rather than referee it.
- Season planning: a plan for a team or an age group across the season, so every Tuesday night builds on the last one.
- Coach mentoring: one of our coaches alongside yours at training, with feedback afterwards. Single sessions or a block across a term.
- Team support: technical and tactical work for a specific team, including video analysis and the psychology of match play.
Everything is built around what your club or school actually needs; there is no set package. Tell us the problem and we will tell you what we would do about it.
